The latest Electric December, the online digital advent calendar. This year is a bit special as not only is 2008 the 10th year of Electric December but also for the first time ever we are showcasing films from across Europe as part of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. These seasonal gifts have been handpicked and brought to you by eShed, a website run by young people for young people aged 1421 interested in film and media in partnership with likeminded young creatives from Spain, Germany, Poland, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania and other regions of the UK. The team kept in touch with each other and their European contributors through the Electric December blog. The result of all this hard work is a programme of short films that are as diverse as the continent they come from. Quirky, colourful stop motion, 2D and 3D animations, experimental dance, French hip hop music videos, bizarre pieces of skateboarding surrealism and even a soap where the patrons at the local cafe are superheroes there really is something for everyone this Christmas with Electric December 2008. Established in 1999, Electric December sought to facilitate partnerships between local community and education groups in Bristol and professional media companies to produce new pieces of creative work for the web. At the launch of Electric December on Mon 1 Dec the eShed steering group presented two awards. The first, the Electric December 2008 South West Award Sponsored by the Real Ideas Organisation CIC, went to Stand and Stare by Josh Cawthorn and Simon Roberts, students from Bristol UWEs School of Creative Arts, UK.
