July 4 celebrated in the United States to commemorate the adoption in 1776 of the Declaration of Independence. Also called Fourth of July. FYI Both Thomas Jefferson and Adams, who had played such great parts in the winning of Independence, died on Independence Day, July 4, 1826. Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag. When we view the flag, we think of liberty, freedom, pride, and Betsy Ross. The Liberty Bell chime changed the world on July 8, 1776. The Liberty Bell rang out from the tower of Independence Hall summoning citizens to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon. We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal. Thomas Jefferson I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death. Patrick Henry
