IVU is a union of vegetarian societies around the world founded in 1908. Member Societies are shown on the left the listing is by the date of formation of the first society in each country, links go to detailed histories: World Vegetarian Congresses have been held every two or three years in different parts of the world. All Congresses since 1908 are listed below. At each Congress the Member Societies elect the International Council until 1971 the Executive Comittee. All members of the Council are listed on the right.
