Established in 1996, dedicated to all good things, and firmly rooted in the glorious past, youll find The Swell Company and its roots in the state of Maine where the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. Working from an 1850s farmhouse and a very inspirational barn in the mountains of western Maine, we are committed to preserving the integrity and old time skills of this region in the quality and manufacturing of our designs. Our products are Made in Maine, and created with great aplomb by a bevy of stayathome mothers, fathers, granddads and grandmas. Families working together. We are especially grateful for Martha and Eddie, our dear knitters... Eddie continued to knit for us while undergoing successful chemotherapy treatments last year, and Martha has continued to knit and caretake and do everything else, too. Cottage industry is an important part of Maines economy, and we are proud to feature the work of these skilled local artisans.
